Welcome Autumn

A glimpse into my present activities and a look to near future ones. I was proud to create and moderate the Art and Activism panel for the Inspire Conference hosted by Adorama featuring a photographer, an installation artist, a curator, a writer and an innovator in digital communication. Listen here for a short excerpt and/or the full discussion is uploaded on my website.

September always brings my favorite photo festival, Photoville. Shipping containers stacked under the Brooklyn Bridge featuring visual narratives by international photojournalists and photographers. It is as much about people as it is about photo – fostering new relationships and strengthening existing ones. Find my highlights on my blog, Punctum Junkie.

October 18th is the opening of my recent curatorial project, Beginning at the End: Portraits of Dementia, with images by Joe Wallace at the Pao Art Center. These portraits build awareness of the diversity of those with Alzheimers while honoring their accomplishments and unique contributions.

For the first time I am offering my concept development curriculum, Concept Aware® to artists of all mediums at the Cambridge Art Association – 3 Tuesday evenings devoted to your creative practice. Sign up is here.

Late Autumn finds me reviewing portfolios at Photo Plus in the Javits Center and at the New England Portfolio Reviews at Lesley University College of Art and Design. Follow links for registration information.

November brings Paris Photo. I will lead an informal and intimate guided tour for photographers and fellow punctum junkies to navigate the largest international photo fair. We will meet with four Gallery Directors from China, Argentina, Germany and France. I am eager to see the new city-wide tour of photography through the prism of women, Elles x Paris. Following this extravaganza I review the highlights in a review held November 29th at the Griffin Museum of Photography.

Be well and A bientôt!
